In this blog, Mary Spencer takes a look at the issues that could impact UK pension schemes in 2017 and beyond. Plus some of the ways you can effectively deal with these.
Hi, I’m Mary. Before they make any big investment decisions I help my clients really get to grips with their own objectives and the key risks they face. After all, they’re putting in place long term plans to ensure the success of the scheme. From the point that these building blocks have been put in place, all decision making can be more focussed and effective.
My belief is this process doesn’t have to be boring! I’ve helped develop LCP’s tools that help trustees breathe life into the way they think about their pension schemes. I make discussions interactive and inclusive, so everyone’s involved and all voices are heard. I know that if I present a lot of data to my clients, there’s a chance they’ll remember the message; but my fresh approach reinvigorates them and helps them actually learn.
I’m a qualified actuary and pride myself on my attention to detail, which helps in my role in our asset transfer team (which makes sure scheme’s assets are transferred correctly and in a cost-effective way). I also lead LCP’s research into emerging market equity managers.
Mary is a pleasure to work with. She is always well informed, understands the trustee’s needs, and provides clear and concise advice.
In this blog, Mary Spencer looks at the case for emerging markets – do they have potential as an attractive long-term partner for investors?
