LCP sponsoring Fair Game’s International Women’s Day conference to help break down barriers for women in football

LCP is delighted to be sponsoring a key workshop at Fair Game’s International Women’s Day conference on 8th March to celebrate the role of women in football and the rapid growth in the popularity of the sport.

Fair Game, a group of 33 value-driven football clubs, works with its network of world-renowned experts to develop realistic long-term solutions to the problems faced in football in England and Wales.

The conference comes almost a year after LCP, in partnership with Analytics FC, incorporated women’s leagues into their TransferLab data scouting platform – which remains the only comprehensive platform of its type for women’s football. LCP have also worked with Fair Game to help develop its proposals to create a new mechanism, the Sustainability Index, for distributing money that rewards well-run clubs and incentivises better governance and financial stability.

Bart Huby, Head of Football Analytics at LCP, commented: “We are proud to be supporting Fair Game’s IWD conference, which will celebrate and promote women in football. In the past year women’s football has flourished, in particular in the wake of the new broadcast deal in England as many more people get to see what a great game it is. We know from our TransferLab platform that there is a wealth of talent in the women’s game and that this year will be an exciting year with the Euros happening this summer.”

Ashley Mould, a Consultant in LCP’s Football Analytics team and who is speaking, along with Lauren Keith (LCP’s Senior PR Manager), at the Women in Sports Media workshop at the event, added: “Improved data in the women’s game is key to helping the game finally be seen as on a par with the men’s game and to further professionalise it. While it’s great to see how many more women there are playing, reporting and involved in both the women and men’s game, it’s important that we remain alert to stamping down on any form of prejudice to make sure that the beautiful game is accessible to all.”

You can find out more and sign up to the event here, which is hosted by broadcaster Anne-Marie Batson, with keynote speakers Kelly Lindsey (Sporting Director at Lewes FC) and Farkhunda Muhtaj (captain of Afghanistan’s women’s football team) and lots inspiring panels and workshops: https://www.fairgameuk.org/iwd
