Northampton Town and FC Akron Tolyatti are the latest clubs to have signed up to TransferLab, the online football scouting tool that has been developed in partnership between LCP and leading football consultancy Analytics FC.

TransferLab is an advanced online data-scouting platform aimed at enhancing the player recruitment process for professional football organisations, including football clubs from around the world and player agencies.

Northampton Town, currently sitting third in English football’s League Two, recently announced the club are looking at a more data-driven model to enhance the club’s recruitment to continue their excellent recent progress.

FC Akron Tolyatti are one of the youngest clubs in the Russian Football National League as well as being one of the few clubs who are completely privately owned in their division. With Akron’s ambitious owners looking to advance to the Russian Premier League in the coming seasons, they are keen to leverage data analytics to help them achieve success in this challenge.

Northampton won Club chairman Kelvin Thomas has been clear about how he wants the club to use data to continue to move forward: “We want to ensure as a club we take a bit more control over the process and also be a bit more data-driven,” he said. “That includes even looking at our own players and their performances levels. It’ll be about defining what our playing philosophy will be and what type of players we want to bring in.”

Sporting Director or FC Akron, Chris Docherty, said: “As part of our exciting new project at FC Akron, we are always searching for ways to innovate and stay ahead of the competition,” says Sporting Director Chris Docherty. “We firmly believe that the use of data will be one of the primary methods of competitive advantage in the future, particularly for teams who want to achieve success against clubs with a larger budget. As a result, we are delighted to announce the partnership with TransferLab as we embark on our ambitious 10 year plan to make FC Akron a recognized name in European football”.

Bart Huby, Head of Football Analytics at LCP, added “We love working with clubs who recognise the obvious upsides that using data and advanced analytics in their processes can have. Having TransferLab will really help both Northampton Town and FC Akron to improve their recruitment and have their eye on future talent. We know the power data can have in the football industry.”
