LCP has hired Helen Abbott to join its growing covenant team as a Principal. She will be leading on key engagements and providing client insights given her extensive advisory and regulatory experience.

Helen joins from the Pensions Regulator (TPR) where she was a business analyst for seven years. There, she led a team specialising in providing advice around covenant issues, and specialist business and financial analysis to support meeting TPR objectives.  Recently this included working on the development of the funding code consultation.  Prior to joining TPR, Helen worked in the covenant advisory and restructuring teams at a large accountancy firm.  She has wide experience of advising on covenant matters across the full range of scenarios including scheme funding, transactions, restructurings and corporate distress.

Commenting on her appointment, Helen Abbott said: “I’m delighted to be joining LCP and its high performing covenant team. This is an exceptionally challenging time for many trustees of schemes and the companies that sponsor them and during this period of crisis, covenant assessment is particularly important. I look forward to bringing my expertise to the team and to our clients.”

Jon Wolff, head of LCP’s Covenant team, added: “There is a lot of uncertainty for pension schemes to navigate at the moment. The Covid-19 pandemic arrived at the same time as plans for the biggest shake-up in pension funding for 15 years in the shape of the future for funding consultation. Helen’s in-depth knowledge of and experience of regulatory issues will be invaluable to our clients.”

LCP’s covenant client list now spans more than 80 trustee and corporate instructions bringing in an annual income into seven figures.
