The problem
Our client was the receiver of a failed business and quickly wanted to sell the brand including the name, the technology and associated designs. LCP were appointed to estimate the value of the brand and to assist in the sale process.
Solution
It is essential to fully understand what you are selling when dealing with brands. Speed was of the essence in this project and we were working on-site. It became clear from our initial investigations that the bulk of the brand value lay in the technology and the designs. We quickly retraced the history of the technology back to a separate business who claimed that they owned the technology – not our clients. This turned out to be the case.
