Training Needs Analysis

Our first building block is the training needs analysis. It is particularly important for busy trustees to identify their training needs so that their training programme can be appropriately focused. Indeed, the Pensions Regulator states in the latest draft of its Code of Practice on trustee knowledge and understanding that:

“…… any good learning programme, traditional, distance or e-learning, will start by asking questions of each trustee which will help in the process of determining what is relevant for the trustee in question. Trustees should look for this facility in any learning programme they might follow.”

LCP have developed an on-line training needs analysis, which takes the form of 30 multiple-choice questions based on material that trustees need to know, as set out in the Regulator’s scope guidance. The questions test both factual knowledge and behavioural reactions to certain situations. There is no time limit, but we would expect most trustees to be able to complete it within 30 to 40 minutes. We provide tailored written feedback on any learning gaps identified.

You can go to here to see some sample questions.

If you would like to register for the full training needs analysis, we will provide you with a password. The cost is £100 plus VAT, but this fee will be offset against any of our trustee training courses that you attend within the following 12 months.
