Alex Waite comments on the last FTSE100 final salary scheme

The last FTSE 100 company still to offer new recruits a generous guaranteed pension linked to final salary has capitulated by announcing plans to axe the policy.

"This is a milestone moment," said Alex Waite, of the pension consultants Lane Clark & Peacock.  "With Shell's decision, I don't know of a single FTSE 100 company still offering a traditional final salary scheme to new recruits."
