Haley Hutson and Phil Boyle from LCP's Energy Utilities and Regulated Industries practice will be speaking at this years Future of Utilities conference.
These are challenging times for the UK and its utilities
companies. The cost of keeping the lights on, houses warm and
the planet cool is rising inexorably to unaffordable levels.
Government reform of the markets has a great deal to deliver for
British customers and the companies who serve them. Similarly,
turning back the tide of increasing water stress in the UK, in the
face of rising population and an undervalued resource, will require
clear direction from regulators and
policy makers.
In addition to these looming challenges, all utilities companies must cope with the increasing frequency of extreme weather events, growing pressures to become more efficient and a genuine and critical need to engage with customers. At times like these, leadership, insight and interaction become increasingly valuable because sharing experience, concerns, and innovation may make all the difference.
Haley and Phil's session titled "Investing in our uncertain energy future" will cover:
- The likely future of the GB generating fleet resulting from government policy
- How stochastic analysis can be used to understand the risks and benefits of investment
- Examining the potential financial metrics of new generating plant
