When does the summer intern placement commence?
Our summer intern programme typically commences in early July.
How long will the programme last?
The programme typically lasts for 8 weeks although we may consider shorter or longer placements at our discretion.
I am interested in applying, but I am not studying for a degree in mathematics, will my application still be considered?
We will consider applications from candidates studying a wide range of disciplines providing you have gained a grade A at A-Level Mathematics (or equivalent).
I have already graduated from university, will you still consider me for a summer placement?
We will consider applications from candidates of all backgrounds providing they demonstrate an interest in the actuarial profession and meet our summer intern programme requirements.
I am in my first year of university but I am keen to find out more about actuarial work, would my application still be considered?
Placements are normally granted to undergraduates in the penultimate year of their degree. However if you have a strong interest in actuarial work and meet our requirements, we will consider your application.
I am going on holiday over the summer, do you offer a placement programme at any other time of year?
Typically we only offer placements starting during July, although we are willing to consider alternative dates for candidates who meet our requirements and can demonstrate a keen interest in the actuarial profession.
When do you start recruiting for the summer placements?
We review applications from the start of January for the summer intern programme commencing in the following July. For example, we started reviewing applications in January 2011 for our July 2011 summer intern programme.
When is the deadline for applications for the 2012 summer intern programme?
The deadline for the 2012 intake is Friday 30 March 2012.
I would like to get experience in all areas, will there be an opportunity on the programme to work in different departments?
We are keen for our summer interns to gain a variety of experience during their placement and, where possible, we will arrange for interns to work on projects in alternative departments.
